Borredo Shampoo for dog 500ml

“Love begins with gentle care”
The reason why dogs are vulnerable to skin diseases,
Dog skin is three to four times thinner than human skin.
While human skin is slightly acidic, a dog’s skin is closer to neutral.
Because of this, its natural protective barrier can be more delicate.
Also, since dogs have a higher body temperature than humans, their skin can be more easily affected by external factors.
In addition, thinner skin means that ingredients can be absorbed more quickly.
For these reasons, it is important to choose products made with gentle, safe ingredients that respect the natural balance of a dog’s skin.
'Borredo Dog Shampoo is formulated with ingredients that are gentle on the skin. Its key components are selected mainly from ingredients rated low-hazard on the EWG Skin Deep database (excluding fragrance). Please note: “EWG Verified” is a separate certification program. The formula is adjusted to a pH range that generally aligns with the typical skin surface of dogs (approximately pH 6.2–7.5), recognizing that canine skin differs from human skin. (The actual pH value of this product is indicated on the label.) For cleansing, the shampoo avoids sulfate-based surfactants. Instead, it uses three plant-derived surfactants, each chosen for its specific role. This combination is designed to cleanse the coat and skin gently, leaving them feeling soft, hydrated, and refreshed.
Dog Skin Layers
A dog’s skin is much thinner and more delicate than human skin.
It is made up of three main layers:
1. Epidermis
- The outermost layer that acts as a protective shield against external irritants.
- Dogs’ epidermis is three to four times thinner than humans, making it more sensitive.
2. Dermis
- Contains hair follicles, glands, and blood vessels.
- Helps maintain skin elasticity and overall skin health.
3. Subcutaneous Tissue
- Made of fat and connective tissue.
- Provides cushioning, support, and helps regulate body temperature.
A dog’s skin is much thinner and more delicate than human skin, which makes it more sensitive to irritation and imbalance. Keeping these characteristics in mind, Borredo formulates its dog-specific shampoo with great care. Our cleansing base uses only naturally derived surfactants, ensuring a gentle yet effective wash. All ingredients—apart from fragrance—are selected from EWG Green Grade materials, known for their low irritation potential and safety profile. Any added fragrance is carefully chosen and blended in full compliance with IFRA standards, staying within the approved limits to ensure safety for dogs with sensitive skin. By respecting the structural differences of canine skin and choosing mild, clean ingredients, Borredo’s shampoo supports healthier skin, comfortable cleansing, and a more enjoyable grooming experience.
Dog Skin pH
What Is Skin pH?
Skin pH refers to how acidic or alkaline the surface of your skin is.
It’s an important indicator of the skin’s overall balance and health.
pH Scale
● pH 0~6 : Acidic
● pH 7 : Neutral
● pH 8 ~ 14 : Alkaline
Human skin pH
Slightly acidic (around pH 4.5–5.5), which helps form a protective barrier against bacteria.
Dog skin pH
Closer to neutral (around pH 6.2–7.4), which means the skin barrier is more delicate and sensitive to irritation.
Borredo’s dog shampoo is formulated with a pH level that closely matches the natural pH of a dog’s skin.
Using a product with a similar pH is important because it helps maintain the skin’s protective barrier, prevents unnecessary irritation, and supports a healthier coat. When the pH balance is disrupted—either too acidic or too alkaline—the skin can become dry, itchy, or more prone to sensitivity. By keeping the formula aligned with a dog’s natural pH, Borredo helps promote gentle cleansing while protecting the skin’s overall balance and comfort.

Formulated with surfactants sourced from nature.
The primary function of a shampoo (wash) — cleansing — is carried out by surfactants, which make up the largest proportion of the formula.
Borredo’s dog shampoo uses only naturally derived surfactants, avoiding sulfates.
Below is an overview of the surfactants used, along with their characteristics and roles in the formula.
Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate CONTAIN
Naturally derived surfactant #1 (Sulfate FREE)
Borredo dog shampoo contains Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate, a gentle, naturally derived surfactant. It effectively cleanses without stripping natural oils, helps maintain a healthy coat, and is mild enough for sensitive skin, making it ideal for dogs.
Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate is an eco-friendly surfactant that biodegrades rapidly in wastewater, with over 90% breaking down within 28–48 hours, helping to minimize environmental impact.

Lauryl Glucoside CONTAIN
Naturally derived surfactant #2 (Sulfate FREE)
Lauryl Glucoside, derived from coconut oil–based lauryl alcohol combined with glucose, is a gentle yet effective cleansing ingredient suitable for sensitive skin. Its amphiphilic structure—hydrophilic glucose and lipophilic lauryl chains—enables it to surround and lift dirt and impurities from the skin and coat without stripping natural moisturizing factors, thereby preserving the protective barrier
According to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Lauryl Glucoside is highly biodegradable, rapidly broken down by enzymes in biological environments, and does not accumulate in nature. It meets the highest OECD classification for biodegradability. Its toxicity to marine ecosystems is extremely low, with high LC50 values for fish, shellfish, algae, and other aquatic organisms, confirming its environmental safety. Caprylyl / Capryl Glucoside CONTAIN
Naturally derived surfactant #3 (Sulfate FREE)
Derived from plant-based sources such as palm kernel, coconut, and corn, this ingredient is classified as mild and non-irritating to the skin. It enhances the cleansing power of other surfactants and promotes foaming when mixed with liquids, improving the overall user experience.

It helps maintain the skin’s natural pH balance, supports a healthy coat, and improves the spreadability of the formula, allowing the shampoo to rinse off easily without leaving residue. Its plant-derived nature and excellent biodegradability also make it a safe and eco-friendly choice for pets and the environment.
